An Authentic, Thought-Provoking Glimpse Inside Hospital Life
Grace Elliott
Trust in the Tribe is an absorbing look at hospital life – equal parts medical dramaand study of human nature. David’s expertise in orthopaedics and medical ethicsgives the book, in particular the clinically detailed patient stories, huge authority. Itmade me reflect a lot about the grey areas of medicine, especially when a patient’s(or family’s ) beliefs clash with best practice, or when the surgeon’s personal lifestarts to bleed into their practice. He captures the stakes of surgery, the quiet politicsof a team under pressure and the importance of trust in medicine with the detail onlypossible by someone who has experienced it first hand.
